This should be the first census that Edward D. shows up in, although I haven't found him yet. While it might not be Mary's first census - since we don't know when she came to the U.S. (or if in fact she was born in NY) - it would be the first one to name her individually.

I have been unable to locate any sort of substitue for this period, ie. tax records, etc. - but I haven't given up!
There is an Ellen Cushing listed as a patient @ Hudsonville State Hospital.  She may or may not be Ed Sr's 2nd wife.
I am trying to find our Edward's brothers & sisters on the census' - after they left their father's house - but to date have had no luck.
